Scattered throughout the Usina de Arte park, you can find a series of about 30 benches made of jackfruit wood. Hugo França was the first to encourage the creation of the Usina de Arte project and to organize creative and artistic workshops and environmental education activities with the neighboring community.

A self-taught designer and sculptor, França has been creating his "furniture sculptures" since the late 1980s from forest and urban waste. His work arises from the direct handling of trunks, roots and condemned trees, reflecting the influences of a Porto Alegre native who now divides his time between São Paulo and Trancoso, in Bahia.
