Stainless steel sheet sculpture
2.5 x 7 x 2.2 m
A huge sheet of stainless steel seems to hold its mass suspended in the air, turning a rigid, heavy material into a fluid, almost dancing form. The work was part of the exhibition of the same name held at MAM Rio in 2015 and highlights the tension between the resistance of steel, the twists its structure demands, and the apparent lightness of its design. The sculpture establishes a dynamic relationship with the landscape, absorbing reflections, light, and changes in its surroundings. Like much of Iole's work, it seems to want to exceed its own limits, expanding beyond its perimeter in constant motion.
