Stones and red line
Approximately 0.3 x 0.3 x 8 m
A sequence of aligned stones is marked by a continuous red line that runs through the entire installation. Simple in form, the work brings to the surface the marks of violence and of the historical conflicts that strike territories and populations. The line drawn over the stones suggests the flow of a red liquid, evoking blood, war, and the persistent disputes associated with the work's title. Exposed to time and the elements, the red line slowly fades, yet never disappears completely. Like the memory of wars and collective trauma, its traces remain. By turning stones and pigment into political critique, Geórgia exposes the persistence of violence and how hard it is for the wounds of history to heal.
