Conversadeiras (Conversation Benches), 2023

Sculptural benches in metal and concrete covered with printed and fired tiles
Variable dimensions

Scattered throughout the Usina de Arte park, the Conversadeiras turn furniture into places for meeting and contemplation. Covered with tiles that combine photographs, maps, references to Pernambuco's culture, and images tied to the history of sugarcane, the benches form a visual narrative about the region and the changes it has undergone over time. The work invites visitors to slow down and observe the surrounding scenery, suggesting that the memory of a place is also built through conversation, coexistence, and the exchange of knowledge.
