Autômatos (Automatons), 2017-2025

Grilles, glass, mirrors, and metal structures
Variable dimensions

Using items associated with building construction and urban security devices, André Komatsu creates an installation that oscillates between openness and obstruction, transparency and confinement, exploring the relationships between architecture, power, and social control. The work shows how contemporary environments are organized by mechanisms of surveillance, segregation, and protection that define everyday life in cities.
