Painted metal dumpster, concrete base, and cacti
2.8 m high
Painted gold and set on a raised base, a large dumpster becomes a monument. It loses its original function and takes on a character that is at once solemn and ironic. Surrounded by cacti that make it hard to approach, the work delivers a biting critique of Brazil's social contradictions, questioning the cultural hierarchies and mechanisms of exclusion that keep large segments of the population from accessing art.
