Saint Clair Cemin

Pai (Father), 2021

Bronze, steel, and wood
3 x 3 x 1 m

A large shoe rests inside a structure that resembles a cage, creating an image that is at once familiar and enigmatic. The work can be read as an allusion to the father figure, a critical observation on authority, or a construction open to the public's imagination. In dialogue with the legacy of Surrealism, Cemin turns everyday objects into devices for thought, reaffirming his understanding of sculpture as a field where experience and philosophical speculation meet.
