The story of our place begins a century ago, in 1926.  With the founding of the Santa Terezinha sugar mill, an entire village was built to welcome workers and their families: a place with its own social life, health care, and schooling, where bonds and memories would take shape across generations.

Ten years ago, here on this land so rich in history, the Usina de Arte was born, from the desire to create new possibilities for the people of the Vila by bringing art, culture, education, and nature together.

This year, we celebrate that journey with a reunion. From November 5 to 8, artists who were with us in the project’s early years return to the Usina to share memories, celebrate the paths they have traveled, and plant new dreams for the future.

A Gathering of Origins is an invitation to look back at where we come from, to recognize the stories that brought us here, and to celebrate all that we can still build together.

From November 5 to 8, 2026, Usina de Arte welcomes back some of the friends who were part of the early years of this story. The celebration marks the arrival of the book Usina de Arte: A construção de uma utopia in the Santa Terezinha community and offers another opportunity to bring together people who helped make this project happen.

Diógenes Moura, Luiz Braga, Neka Menna Barreto, Fábio Delduque, Rodrigo Bueno, Lu Brites, Hugo França, Bené Fonteles, Paulo Bruscky, Márcio Almeida, Marcelo Silveira, and many other friends and partners of the project will be here for these days of celebration.

When they were here, the Usina was only beginning to discover what it could become. They came to create, talk, experiment, exchange ideas, and, in different ways, help build this new outlook on a place that was beginning to take on new meanings.

Now, after so many years, they are returning to the Usina. And they are coming back not only to see the place again, but to reconnect with people, stories, and bonds of affection that remain part of this journey.

The program is being designed for these days of reunion and will be open to the public, with activities that bring artists, residents, and visitors together. The idea is for the community to take part, join the conversation, and relive some of the magical atmosphere of the Usina's early years.

It is a return to our roots, with our eyes on the future. A reunion with those who helped it all begin, to celebrate everything that has grown since then and to make room for everything that is still to come.
